3 ACD lights, only during hard track use
3 ACD lights, only during hard track use
It the second time I got this on a trackday...but when I drive the car hard for about 6 or 7 laps, the 3 ACD lights come on, and the ACD stops working.
I cool down the car, shut it off, and the 3 lights disappear, and its back to normal again. this happened to me for the first time, the last trackday...and now it happened again.
I use the car every day as my DD and its fine, never get 3 ACD lights on at the same time on street use.
Any ideas?
TIA...

Try taking it to the Mitsu dealer and have them scan the four ABS sensors along with the two G-Force sensors.
If you have a factory service manual, you can pull the big connector from the ABS motor (On Firewall, Passenger side, Inside engine bay), and probe the connectors for each ABS sensor to see if you have continuity. I found a broken wire in my car, the ABS sensor on the front drivers side wheel. It was intermitent, and would go away whenever I washed out the engine bay because the water would cause enough contact to make the lights go away.
The wires to probe, at least for the ABS are:
29 and 30
22 and 31
8 and 9
6 and 7
This probing will tell you if your ABS sensors are all working.
Is your ABS light on? If so, you can check for a DTC code and it will tell you what it is seeing as a fault. You can check for a DTC by (Copied straight from manual):
1. Use special tool MB991529 (AKA, Paperclip and wire) to ground number 1 terminal of the data link connector (OBDII Connector).
2. Depress the brake pedal and hold it.
3. Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
4. After turning the ignition switch to the "ON," release the
pedal within three seconds. Repeat this process of pressing
and releasing the brake pedal 10 continuous times.
5. Turn the ignition switch to the "LOOK" (OFF) position.
6. Disconnect special tool (Paperclip & wire)
What this will do is flash the ABS light and read out the DTC to you using the ABS light in the car.
EDIT: Shoot, I see you have an EVO VII, so this might apply to you. I am not sure if the layout of the VII's is the same. THis was from a manual for an 05 VIII.

Hey thanks! I will just try to have them scan the entire ACD system. I already had a 3 light problem before and it turned out to be an ABS sensor on the front right of the car. Replaced that and the light never came back. Its really only during hard use that I get it...so I am trying to find a solution or a reason why that is so. Do it overheat or something? Anyway, with these things, its really hard to find out without scanning it anyway, so I will do that...thanks!
I had the same problem while driffting. The acd was getting to hot, causing the ACD not to work. Well, when i say not to work i only mean that the lights are all on so the pre-set settings don't work, but it still works. I switched to a better fluid, im not to sure which one, i don't remember. But i had the stock fluid in there orginally and I have not had a problems since

What Fluid are you using now? Very curious to find out...
I am using Royal Purple MaxATF fluid, which says its good for Dextron III applications...I will try to find stock fluid, to see if that will work better for me. For some reason, it is so hard to find the standards that ATF uses...not sure if Dextron III is equal to SP III.
