I know this has been asked... Greddy Type RS

Does anyone know if this BOV has been successfully used? I am reading up on it and this doesn't seem to be such a good choice for the EVO. I just bought one and it comes with the recirc kit and all... Does this fix the problems or do I need to try and pick up another? Also thanks so much guys for all the help... I am new to the EVO.... Have dreamed after this car for 6 years now and finally have one!~

I heard that the greddy rs doesn't hold boost pressures above 25 or so. A lot of people recommend getting a 9 bov since it is metal instead of plastic.

That bov should be fine as long as it doesn't have the diaphram like they do in the type S. That is a known point of failure.

It does have a diaphragm and on mine after about 2 months it started to flutter. Opened it up to find not 1 but 3 small cuts on the diaphragm.

The RS is a piece of garbage.

Put your stocker back on or get a IX stock valve.

The greddy rs is fine. Its much better than the plastic VIII valve. You already bought it so use it. By the time you are heavily modified and need a new bov (25+psi) That one will be old/maybe leaking and "need" to replace it, rather than replacing it now just because.

I guess my big thing is that so many people hate this BOV... I am just wondering maybe I should resale this one and get the IX DV... If this one isnt that bad I am going to just stick with it for now...

I've seen it work fine on a 30+psi meth evo.... I personally have a type-s that holds 25 psi w/o any issues.

Both the Type S and RS work very good when they are working.

I had a Type S on my car for 3 years, holding as much boost as you put through it - until the diaphragm crapped out. But when they do wear out the diaphragm is expensive to replace. I run a Forge RS now.
