Hey all,

I just bought damstr's evo 9 mr from MD and got it shipped up yesterday. Funny thing is the damn truck that shipped it broke down in front of my house, bwahaha. At least my new baby is here, but with a couple problems.

1.) The engine bay smells of coolant and there is a small amount missing from the resevoir, but the radiator is full with NO CLEAR SIGNS OF LEAKAGE. I've run the car and the smell gets worse but I don't actually see anything but a tiny amount on this hose *see pic*. WTF is that metal line with the nut on it? ? It isn't in the cooling system diagram I found online. I'll pressure test the system when I get a chance. I searched past postings but nothing was similar.

2.) Passenger side rear suspension (megan coilovers) clunk. WTF is that all about. Pillow ball mount?

I can't use my normal ramps to get this in the air to look underneath because its so damn low. What does everyone do to jack it up? Small jackstands?..

The metal line with the nut on it is your AC line.. That shouldn't have anything to do with it smelling..

But there is just a slight film of coolant on that line. Anyone know where it could come from?

 

I would suggest clean the engine bay and then keep an eye out for leaks and or coolant comsumption when you drive the car or pushing of coolant into the overflow tank under boost

Maybe where the plastic upper part of the radiator is pinched into the inner core has somehow come loose. Only a pressure test will reveal. You could start it up and see if the leak is seeping from that corner area. If it's a tiny amount you should be ok for now, but check it out with the pressure test...hope you find out what it is...

maybe there was some spilled in the engine bay manifold etc and some got on the line if some got on the manifold that would explain why the smell gets worse. if youre worried pressure test.
