From MR 6-Spd to Shep 5-Spd?

Not that I'd want to lose the extra gear but in the event of irreperable damage to the transmission (due to increased power and/or hard use), can the 6-spd MR transmission (MY2006) be replaced with an upgraded/strengthened 5-spd from Shep?

Would there be any negative side effects from doing so (aside from losing the extra gear)?

Has anyone ever taken a 6spd and put the 4th gear from the 5 spd in but left 5th and 6th? Or maybe this is impossible because of the width of the gears. I think it would be sweet to have a taller 4th gear, but still keep the 6 spd.

The gears are not interchangeable between the 6 speed and 5 speed. The 6 speed was built by Aisin. I am not sure who built the 5 speed.

^ Yes, I'm running 6 speed with power ~500hp.
I do face problems during hard power shifts but till todate gearbox is handling efficiently during normal racing/launches. I will not change internals of my box untill somethings says "bye-bye"...
Secondly, mine is JDM and I'm not sure if there is any difference between JDM & US material or something.

I feel the 6 speed is a great box, might not be the strongest but it sure is nice.

Jon at TRE should have a custom (read stronger) gearset for 4-5-6 coming out in the near future. Last time I had contact with him he mentioned that it should be available in the fall sometime.
