question about OEM clutch

ive had my car since new it has 10500 miles and i learned mostly on it. it shifts fine and everything but since its getting colder out its been chattering a little but not loud or anything. ive never launched the car or anything but i do drive it hard occasionally should i be worrying about my clutch ?

my stocker has 48k miles and counting - it has chattered in the cold since day one. Once everything gets up to temp. then it goes away and has smooth engagement again.

the chattering you are referring to is most likely your throw out bearing (aka release bearing).

does it make noise when you are in neutral with your foot OFF the clutch, but when you depress the clutch pedal the noise stops? if so i wouldn't be too concerned.

both my first and current evo made that chattering sound. it gets even worse when i idle foot off the clutch pedal with the A/C on. not really an area of concern as it seems to be standard, but it sure can get annoying in traffic.

when you should get worried about your clutch is when you are in a higher gear on the highway (4, 5, or 6), press on the gas to pass someone and your rpms jump up but the car doesn't start accelerating. that's the sign of a dying clutch.

yeah, no worries, that is just your throw out bearing.

i'm not entirely sure why that happens, but it is constant in most evos i have ridden in. seems to get much more noticeable in the cold though.

yeaa ive heard of it too and my friend with an mr has the same noise i knew it was the throwout bearing but just didnt know if it should be chattering. i dont really hear mine on warmup maybe because im in a garage and my car is louder than the TO bearing but i hear it at idle at red lights with my radio off
