Hello... I have a red 2006 evo IV MR. Whenever i step on the gas i hear a high pitch whining noise coming from the rear of the car.. Sounds like a soft sound.. but it gets very annoying at times.. the service guy at mitsu had told me it was normal. I told him i highly doubt it being normal because my friend has a GSR and his car sounds immaculate! can anyone help me out?

 

rear diff maybe. my wines in the front. next spring looking to change all fluids as i'm almost at the 60 thousand mark.

 

i was thinking the same thing.... but would getting the fluids changed get rid of that noise???

 

wait, you have an Evo X in your sig and user CP, and you put 2006 Evo IV (this equals 4 in roman numerals) in the post. fuel pump or rear diff.

 

It is difficult to diagnose sounds over the computer. But my guess would be either the fuel pump or typical drivetrain noise. The Evo has the loudest drivetrain I've ever heard in any car.

My recommendations would be to change the fluids and see if that helps address the noise. If not, its probably just normal noise - don't sweat it.


NOTE: Just noticed you have a Evo X. I'm not sure about that, but if it is anything like the VIII and IX then I say normal since the noise is very soft
