AEM TruBoost Issue

Ok I read about someone else having this issue when doing research on the Gauge and setup. I cant seem to find it now that I need it though.

I just installed my AEM TruBoost and all seems to be working ok, but its only boosting till like 12 PSI. I did replace stock lines to turbo outlet and wastegate, but not to gauge in the cockpit. Its a MR so used existing line from manifold area to hook gauge up?

Any ideas?

Should I have replaced vacuum hose to gauge as well.

My first guess is you need to actually turn it on. The gauge will display with it off. Hold the left button down for a couple seconds. When you let go it should display "A" and whatever your duty cycle is set to. Doing it again will switch to the "B" setting. One more time will turn it off.

If it's not that check your hose routing to the solenoid, etc.

Your first guess was absolutely correct. Only after turning it on I found that I am getting ErS, which means a issue with solenoid. So AEM instructions were pretty generic but said both black and red wires run to solenoid leads and polarity doesnt matter. Thats what I did. Other end just plugs into back of gauge. not sure where I went wrong.

Another question for those that have used a AEM tru boost is what are the two brown wires for?

Brown wires where? If they're off the solenoid, those are the wire you connect the red and black to.

Ok well that would explain my issue then. I dont understand why they would have two brown wires coming out of solenoid and two contact screws on the top of the solenoid. If brown wires are for red and black coming from gauge then what are the contact screws on top of solenoid?

Ohh wait to confuse people like me and have me hook up my gauge wrong

I think they're screws to bolt the solenoid together.

Ok I just changed them to the brown wires and I still get the ErS on the gauge.

I also forgot to hookup the MAF after unplugging it a second time and when started it check engine light came on and I knew I had for got to connect the wire back to MAF, so turned it off and connected it back and started again and service engine light still on. Will this go off?

Yes the cel will turn off after a day or so. Is the plug in correctly in the back of the gauge? It's easy, for me anyways, to not get them plugged in correctly/all the way. It is possible by wiring it to the solenoid body that you fried something. How is the solenoid mounted? Is it touching the frame of the in anyway, through a bracket?

Yes its mounted to the same bracket that the stocker one was on. So it was touching metal if that what your asking.

I will check the gauge.

Man I hope I dint fry the thing. i guess I will be calling AEM on monday.

Thanks Biggie

No problem. You can try taking a dmm to the red and black wires and see if you get any output out of the gauge or try hooking up your solenoid to a battery(car battery if it's rated for 12v) and see if it actuates, you'll hear it.

This will help you tons. I just installed mine about a week back and didn't have any issues.

Recheck your wiring with this to make sure you wired it correctly.

I ran the vacuum line off of the fuel pressure regulator/ T-d it, and it works fine.

Yeah I followed these instructions and one on evomoto.com so I knew I had hooked up correctly.

Weirdest thing I go out this morning and start my car and CEL is gone and gauge is working now. Well at least its letting me run program a or b now. Boost is still around 14-15 but I think I will have to adjust the duty cycle %.

So thanks for all the help.

Also I am not seeing in the manual how to adjust duty cycle %. I found how to adjust spring pressure.

Duty cycle is a couple options past spring pressure. Or when you go into the program menu, you push the left button instead of both and that will take you straight to duty cycle settings. Unfortunately, you'll have to adjust it until you hit your desired boost. You should start at about 45% and slowly dial it up until you get where you want to be.

Cool thanks works like a charm bro.

FYI it was the ground that was giving me issues. Dont use wire clamps provided with Gauge and solenoid. They need to be soldered for a good ground. So do this from beginning and save yourself a hour or two from troubleshooting later.
