Head Studs :: ARP L19's or Cosworth's

Im looking to buy head studs for my car and wondering what is the best route to go. I really believe in building to go all out so I can have as much head room as possible.

So theres the ARP L19's for around 219 I believe. Then there's cosworth's own head studs for 175.

Anyone have any experience with either ? Or even a good fastener company other than ARP.

Im looking to get all my main studs, head studs, rod bolts all in order do it all at once once I get pistons and rods for a drop in.

Thanks

Ahh thanks. See I was wondering which of the two where better. I remember hearing another name out there that make some very strong rod bolts and some others bolts I believe I just cant remember their name. I do remember they make rods also I think and its not cosworth, pauter, oliver.

There are two schools of thought when it comes to head studs:

1.) The stronger the better, turn up the boost!

2.) Some say don't go overboard with head stud strength, because if you experience detonation for whatever reason and your headstuds don't stretch, your block, head, piston, rod, or crankshaft will crack instead.

Not to mention regular ARP and Cosworth head studs are normally only good for 2 torque downs, where as the L19's are supposed to be reusable even more than that. I personally have the L19's. spend the extra money one time.

well would you really trust reusing studs that many times or would you just get new ones?

Thanks Adam. Now that I have seen that site theres a few things I will be getting. But there is someone else out there that makes fasteners too.

Its some top notch company like venolia or something. There was a post somewhere on someones build that was using there rods and rod bolts I just cant find it.

Edit:: I found what i was looking for. Carrillo rods and bolts.

This is what Eric Hsu (of course, he works at Cosworth) has to say about the H11 Cosworth headstuds. He thinks they're not the same as the L19 studs (but apparently made out of the same material):

"The Cosworth studs have a proper dog tooth at the bottom (seats on cylinder block) to preload the fastener unlike the ARP L19 studs."

That quote was from his JDM Insider blog.

What makes you think you need L19's? Your wallet?

One thing is for sure they are 100% not made from the same material as the L19.. Maybe the design was changed on bottom as i never compared them side by side.. When i spoke to ARP at Sema last year they assured me they are the same stud material and have the same clamping force as the the standard studs..

They are the same material, but I think you're talking about the older Cosworth headstuds...not the newer, uber-high boost models

The OP was referring to the 175.00 Cosworth studs which are the same as standards.. Now the set your referring to above once again is another Price Jacked Cosworth labeled product in which i am sure are identical material as the h11/l19 that ARP makes for 249.00 also..
