Mike,

I attempted the last final charge. I fooled my "smart" Sears charger by connecting an additional battery with some jumper cables so that the charger will initiate the charge. The reason why I am saying this is because most chargers will not even start charging if your voltage is extremely slow, this was the case.

Like I said, I started charging it and it began charging for a few minutes then it will shut down saying error on the digital display followed by the red light that means bad. I did this 3 times and no luck..

I went to Bateryplus and I talked to the guys there, they told me nothing new, basically leaving a battery unattended for a few weeks or even days can qualify for negligence and this is a route I already been with my BMW motorcycle with only 3000 miles and having the dealer rejecting the warranty..sounds crazy I know.

All the sudden I saw the light at the end of the tunel. People mentioned in the past the Honda and the Miata batteries, Bingo, the Miata battery is a perfet match. It is a normal led, it is just soo much smaller than the oem specially in height and depth.

The PC680 was rated at 220amp while the Miata replacement is rated at 370 and only weights a few more lbs.

I will follow up shortly with a set of pictures and weights comparing both, you guys will be surprise with the appeal of this battery, it cost much less as well (about $100 though battery plus), maybe I could had find it on Pep boys or autozone but botton line guys I think this new battery is in my opinion a great sustitute.

Thanks for all the inputs.

Carlos

I will find out tomorrow. I had them both side to side before I took the battery to the shop and it was very short (height wise), I would say 1-1.5" shorter and maybe 1.5" wider but about the same length.

I've had my PC680 for over 3 years. My Evo is outside most of the time and even after sitting several weeks in the cold it started. I think I've only had it run low once on me in 3 years. I've been very surprised how well it's done starting my car in the cold Ohio winter.

i agree that mini batteries suck. i use to have this battey on my integra and it sucks. This battery has no reserve power. you can't power a sub or a sound system with it. You can sit in your car and listen to music for more than 10 mins. you cant have the car sit for a week or the battery will die

persionally i run a standard civic battery in the evo and it works great. its a lot smaller and it actually works like a normally battery. i recomend a civic/integra or even a miata battery for a DD evo.

Weird, Ive had mine for over 2 years now...and my car isn't a dd so it sits for a few weeks at a time, made it thru the winter fine. Only time I had to jump it is when it was snowing and I didn't use the car for a month, but other then that it holds enough charge for 2 weeks at a time to fire up my car the first try.

You should know what you are getting yourself into when getting a mini battery...

There's a good chance it's not dead.

I recently installed gauges into my car and have noticed that the battery gets a bit weaker than it used to but I've only had it die once and when it did I just put it on my 1 amp charger and it's been fine since.

I had one in my VR-4 for a while and if I left if for 1 month or so it'd start fine when I had just bought it. I let it go flat twice, enough to power up lights, but not enough to turn the engine (2.5l v6) after it had gone flat it was largely incapable of starting the car up after being left for more that a week or so, compared to more than a month.

After letting it go flat again it wouldn't start the car by itself, even after driving for 50 minutes or so, turning the car off, and trying to crank it over, and it wouldn't start.

I have since bought another one and NEVER let it go flat. If I am not going to drive the car for more than a week I will disconnect the battery. I've never had a problem with it at all and the car always starts up straight away.
