Small prbolem with EVO rod.

OK guys, so I'm currently in the middle of building up my turbo'd ralliart, which is using a 4g69 motor. It has been proven that evo rods will fit this motor no problem, as a few people has done this already.

but i have came accross a minor problem....

I will post pictures within the next few days, but let me verbally explain it now.

If you look on the stock rod, there is a tiny little pin whole that goes up threw the center of it, and sorta out of the side/top of the Rod. I'm told by my mechanic its so oil can be forced through the tiny pin hole and lube up the rest of the assembly, for smoother operation.

my questions are of two.

1. Do your evo stock rods have this oil pin hole? or just us 4g69 guys.
2. The Eagle H-beam rod i used does NOT have this hole. Is it neccasary to have this hole, and i should put this hole in each of my new rods????, or is that hole just a safety thing, that dont "need" to be done?

I'm going to post this up on the evo thread, and the ralliart section, that way i can get advice from both sides of the camp. I need answers ASAP so i know what to do to the rods i ordered.

thanks.

Why don't you talk to Road Race Engineering? I understand they've built a few 4G69's for F/I.

these should work now.

please check it out, let me know what u think of the holes and if they are needed. My guess is its not needed, but it will help with high temps and cooling/lubing the motor for high rpms, and i SHOULD do it, just not sure if its needed.

and im wondering if your stock evo rods have these holes.

thanks.

As far as I know your should never start to drill a rod that a manufacturer builds. I think you should leave them alone and run them as they are, I understand that they are for oiling the bearing and what but drilling a rod does not sound like an idea.

I would assume if the eagle rods needed them they would come like that.

Its just like you said. A hole to helps keep the bearings very well cooled. Doesnt matter wat kind of motor it is the more efficient it is the better. Your worrying about nothing. You can do w/e you want with a rod it wont make that much of a difference unless you just dont know what your doing.

ya but i was just wondering if STOCK evo rods had this to. reason why i want to know this is cuz of evo stock rods have these holes, and the reinforced rods do NOT have them, than that means all these high horse power evo's do not have these oil holes and i dont need them either. But if stock evo rods DO NOT have these holes, than thats just the design of evo rods, and maybe i should keep the design of the ralliart rods, by adding a hole to the evo eagle's.

does that makes sense? it makes sense to me, but as i read it back, its like BLAH lol.
