50 hp? You could just get a set of piston return springs and pick up like 40, at least, then get some cross drilled brake lines, to be sure you can stop that beast.

You might pick up 15-20hp realistically. And that's at the crank.

Its very worth the gains

If you take the engine out and apart its very easy to do if you buy the balance shaft removal kit from Pruven

Its prob not worth it unless you are planning some other upgrades in the engine at the same time

I know that the removal is a very popular DSM trick which i most likely will be doing in the future i'm just gather some onfo on it... So for the most part the entire engine does have to come out though... Got ya...

i have never heard of this? What is the balance beam and what is it for ? You can only take it out if you take out the engine completely?

Interesting - what do you have to look out for when you're running without balance shafts? What wears faster?

The balance shafts are merelt 2 weighted shafts underneath and on opposite sides of the crank. .They spin opposite directions and balance out vibrations at idle and between 3 and 4k rpm.

I took mine out of my DSM and gained no improvement in ET or MPH back to back. I would say they are nothing to go out of your way to do. Very little gain for the effort and increased vibration, which, while not bad, is not soemthing you want in your 30k EVO.

They weigh maybe 8 or 9 lbs? Just a guess, but they are extremely narrow, not at all like taking weight off the flywheel.
