28 pounds no meth!
28 pounds no meth!
just got car back and made 450whp, thought it was on 24 or 25 pounds but drove around today and saw it was running 28 or 29.. took it to get dynoed on differnt dyno and only made 400 whp?? any ideas why and how bad it is to run that much boost without meth? thanks a lot
What kind of boost gauge? What octane gasoline? Stock IX turbo? Who did the tune? If it wasn't self-tune, then you may want to ask the tuner what he thinks about that boost level.

Built/Stock Bottom End?
28/29 lbs spiking or ?
EBC/MBC?
Ambient Temps?
different dynos/correction factors weigh into the variance in power level.
26-27# with a Green on a Mivec, would be a safe limit, depending on the tune. I run 23 on 91 in my VIII which is Green equipped, and I've run 25.5# on 93. Why don't you log knock to make sure. I think that 28-29# is pretty high on 93. Did you test boost in 5th gear?

Why do people think that a "built bottom end" means you can defy the laws of physics and octane and automatically allow more boost or timing at the same compression ratio as a stock bottom end?
If I had a dollar for everytime I saw someone write, "it has a built bottom end, it should take it", I would be rich.

I would think that oem rods are a tad bit weaker than something like Pauter, etc...I've spiked to 35lbs on my oem bottom end, but I don't want to do that again. High Boost wont kill rods but throw in some knock and Bam...hole in oil pan
The notion that you can detonate and preignite a "built motor" and not a stock motor is ridiculous. It pits pistons, smashes rod bearings and ruins engines, regardless of the build. You cannot force the laws of physics to make power over octane limitations and detonation thresholds.
