EVO VII MR - Ti/alloy option

Hello all,

I have done some searching, and have found what I need, but have a couple of questions.

I am in the process of buying a jap-spec Evo VIII MR here in Australia, and this particular car has the Optional Titanium Alloy Turbine (TD05HRA-16G6-10.5T)

I have read some reports on some turbo failures on the IX RS models relating to shaft shear. I gather the optional turbo on this VIII MR is safe from these problems?

Given this turbo is on the car, I am wondering what true advantages I have. Given they are standard on an RS model, I gather they should handle punishment quite well, including additional boost? Or is it all much the same as the sttel turbine? or (maybe) worse for boosting potential as the titanium may not cope well with extra revs etc.

Any info or links to info I may have misssed would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Chris

I am not familiar with the available options for japaneese spec evos but im assuming its the same turbo found in the TME evo VI. The titanium wheel is lighter so therefore it helps to quicken spoolup. I am not sure if that turbo is prone to failure however I have read a few stories from guys on here who love the quick spooling of the turbo.
