I have no experience with Synapse products, but my poor experience with some Japanese piston type BOVs has turned me off of the piston design. I imagine the Synapse design is much improved however.

I've had not even the slightest hint of anything like that. Be advised that there is more than one way this valve can be connected. With mine, both ports A and B are connected to the intake manifold. That may or may not work for you.

That's my experience with it exactly. It doesn't leak either.

one of the ports does leak, a lot, there's a brass screw nipple on it.
make sure to telfon tape it and tighten it BUT don't over do it.
Mine and friend's broke off easily!!! Then you have to call the company!

You'll see when you do a boost leake test...

Stock turbo review: After installing it wrong and then contacting Synapse directly, they helped me correct my mistake and set it up for an amazingly fast reacting Diverter Valve. I originally had both ports A and B hooked up to vacuum/ boost source and port C hooked up to boost only. On the fairly fast spooling stock turbo set to 24 psi there was some part throttle surge until I disconnected port B and left it open. Once this was done I had a car that was a true pleasure to drive again. After several other modifications to my car, including built motor, still on the stock turbo, I realized that the factory hardline I was using as a vacuum/boost source wasn't sufficient. Much like some others on here, I did the EGR removal and used the larger vacuum/boost port for the new line to the DV. Best idea yet.

GT30 turbo review: I recently installed a GT3065 kit and although I am not on high boost yet (not tuned properly), I am still very pleased with this DV. Since installing the larger (read slower spooling turbo) I have now connected all three ports on the DV. There is no hint of surge at any throttle position regardless of load or boost/vacuum. I will post again once I am tuned and running (hopefully) considerably higher boost levels.

Josh
Hey Josh, I'm going to PM you once I get mine in to help me set mine up. I heard it is one of the best bov so far in the market for the $$ so I bought one too

i broke one of those brass nipples as well. I say leak lock or thread sealant is better than teflon tape , but that's just personal preference...otherwise great bov!!

I will have to give it a shot off of the intake manifold as well.

im glad i found this thread as a buddy of mine is parting out his car and offered me this exact bov setup. Now I have read throughout this thread that there are many ways to set this thing up. What do you guys think the best way for me to hook it up if I am just running a IC piping kit and intake? Do I connect ports A and B to the intake manifold or the UICP etc etc?
Thanks

try this... and you may want to play around with the vacuum line too, instead coming off the oem location go off ("T") the oem boost gauge line. folks are doing this with their MR IX DV and ridding the flutter altogether!

like I posted earlier...A&B off of IM and C off of intercooler pipe for a "Boost Only" source. I would've went right off of the compressor housing, but I bought my evo with an ETS turbo kit already on it and this particuar turbo wasn't tapped for a nipple on the compressor cover
