These cases can be made very strong. The bolt upgrade and shimming are a must. In a high hp abusive situation these upgrades will help but will not fix the real problem. The stock ring and pinion are beefy and strong for high miles but not the abuse off drag racing.

The reason is they are way to hard any one care to guess what the rockwell is? A drag ring and pinion are softer to withstand shock. Mitsu made these way to hard.

We have ran a softer ring and pinion in a 900+hp car with no problems. To hold real power it’s the only way to go.

Good luck Alex

Yes and No. The Evo ring and pinion are very strong if you do a Metallurgical test and compare it to the dsm. Evo is must stronger then the dsm. There are alot of things that make it weak. Keeping the ring and pinion in-line helps alot..

If you must launch the car preload the drive train, Light rotation mass and, and drive the car smart.

Using the proper fluid is and changing at proper intervals is the most important aspect of keeping a healthy ring and pinion.

Sorry to hear but I've never had any issues with TRE.

Anyone ever consider reinforcing the TC allu casing which i assume is the actual weak point and alows flex to misalign things?

On the non ACD ones the cover housing would be easy to CNC out of decent steel and then heat treat. the allu bit that joins the gearbox would be the difficult one to machine (be very expensive). Regardless of the extra weight... it amy work.

No one has tried it so guess cant knock it.

Everybody is pretty much telling him the same thing. Shep, TRE, Jacks. I like them, I don't. The reality of it is like TTP said is maintenance. People think Oh I can go a little longer without changing this and that. That's the first mistake. Then I ask why wouldnt somebody go built immediately after the first one sheered. From the factory the regular oil changes and routine maintenance are fine but everybodies cars on here are modified so intervals need be cut by a %. Look at the trans shops sites and decide yourself. I think a built t-case with the micropolishing would be the best bet.
