Question that's got everyone stumped

Just finished installing a 35r turbo kit and 1000cc injectors on my car,
rescaled the MAF, scaled the injectors, and started tuning. everything was fine, car was running great.

I get home, flash a new map on, and the car will not start. BUT when I unplug the MAF, the car starts up just fine. I've tried different MAF scaling and nothing seems to get the car started except unplugging the MAF.

Any ideas?

Did you copy the immobilizer code?

I would say immobilizer but i assume it wouldn't start at all without the correct immobilizer (could be wrong).

I haven't played with Ecu Flash in some time but if i remember correctly you can also modify the map for a map sensor (read a map sensor rather than a maf or search for a maf signal), if so then that may be the issue. But then i don't know if it wouldn't allow the car to start.

Try checking the wiring to make sure nothing is cut not not getting a correct signal.

Try putting your old map back in and see if it starts. If it does, then copy the timing, fuel and other important maps over to your current map (the one that starts the car).

even switching to previous maps that had the car running yield the same result.

If neither map will work now then i assume its hardware, not software.

Other than changing the maps did you touch or change anything else. If not check the wiring, may not be the maf itself.

If more than one maf doesn't work, start with the maf wires and make sure they are connecting and wired properly.

Don't have a diagram to help you and can't tell you how its supposed to look.

But thats prob the best place to start.

with the maf connected it will run for a split second and die

with the maf disconnected it starts right up, runs like ****, but runs

It sounds like your MAF scaling or injector scaling is so far off that the car won't idle. Copy your injector scaling/latency to a bone stock map and see if it idles. If not, it's hardware related.

i'll try changing the maf scaling back to stock and see what happens,

The thing that has me stumped is that the car started up just fine with the previous maps, and now even loading the previous maps wont let the car start

Did you upgrade to a JDM 3bar map sensor? If so, you need to make sure you have the correct tables in the other flashes or it will do what you are describing, start up and then die.

When I reflashed for my injectors, somehow the valet tephramod decided to kick in even though it was disabled. I had the same issue. It would start and run for a second, then die. I didn't try unplugging the maf though. The valet rpm limit was 150, so I changed it to 9000 something.

I never had that problem before with flashing, just after I rescaled for injectors.

Does your CEL blink when the flash finishes?
