You want the HKS SSQV vented but you heard it's bad for the car...
Stop wanting it. It sucks. Bad. Notice how nobody runs those... There's not much you can do to make it work right. The evo 9 MR bov is awesome.

If you really want it to be VTA then you need to get rid of the stock MAF and run some sort of standalone. I know this isnt what you want to hear but why do you want it so bad? Is the sounds that important to you? You realize its going to make the car run like crap...

Ive been in several vent to air BOV evos. Not a single issue with them, and yes, one of them was the SSQV. The IX DV isn't God's gift to EVOs either. It leaks.
Saying you do not need an "upgrade" is bull**** unless youre staying under 30 psi.
Even less. There are incidents where the IX valve was leaking at 21 psi!! Look it up.
I run the WORKS DV, but I also have a HKS SSQV laying around. I chose not to use it because I didn't want to bugger up my stock uicp. Can you have driveability issues with VTA BOVs? Sure can. Is it as awful as always posted? Not in my opinion.
I believe there was a MAP sensor change/adjustment in 2005 model evos. Do searches as others have posted

i been researching this too because i want the same configuration. the problem with VTA is all the unaccounted-for air that the ECU thinks it's gonna get, basically it all dwindles down to 3 options...upgrade to a blow-through MAF, AEM standalone, or possibly even a MAFTPro using Speed Density.
I currenlty have the HKS SSQV V2 and had it vented to air for sometime, I never had a problem with it stalling or what not. As far as shifting at higher RPMs I can definitely notice it does not shift as smooth as when recirculated.
I have different kind of BOVs that I need to test out just haven't had a chance since I deploy too damn much!

Some people learn the hard way if you really want the hks go for it. It's your car and only you will be affected by the outcomes and headaches. Search first there are plenty of negative stories about them.
BTW guys you can run speed density on the stock ECU now, so stop telling the poor guy to get a stand alone... It is his decision on which BOV he wants to run also... he NEEDS TO READ up on the forums about peoples experiences with them first though in order to make an informed decesion...
