Why not just weld the wastegate? So much easier than sourcing for a hotside that will work with the turbine blades.

Why don't you want to weld it again? Less work and it'll be cheaper

If your against welding the flapper, you can try researching other automobile manufacturers that utilize mitsubishi turbos and perhaps there you will find some externally wastegated hotsides that will bolt up to a evo turbo.

i welded my stock flapper shut and put an external wastegate on the mani and it looks clean... you can tell the flapper was welded shut cuz the o2 housing covers it.... BUT its totally up to you which way you want to go

Ya weld it shut! The best bang for the buck. You may spike 32-35 lbs depending on your setup, of which I don't know... lol

It seems like way too much work to remove the turbine housing, weld the flapper shut, and then reinstall it. Why go to all that effort? Besides the housing would be rendered useless for the future if you later wanted to sell the turbo.
EDIT: I guess that if he hasn`t yet installed the turbo then it wouldn`t involve that much work. It still seems like the wrong way to go about it(the welding of the flapper, I mean)..... just my $0.02.

You have to remember that everyone does things differently for a reason and some people just like to weld them shut and not think about the future. Much like the people that yank off the A/C and not thinking ahead... like me. lol

To be honest, taking the turbo housing apart is not that bad. Only like a two-three hour job.
