help, light thumping sound

ok guys i need your help. The past few days when i start my car up in the morning and drive to work i hear a light thumping, as i go faster the interval between the thumps gets shorter. When i drive a few miles on the expressway and get off the thumping gets alot quieter, but does not go away. The thumping is based on speed not gear or revs from what i can gather. I figured it could be my tires so i put my winter tire set on but the sound remains. Any ideas on what else to check? I am going to take it in to the dealer if i cant figure it out this weekend.

Sound clip would help. Now that you've checked tires, move on to driveshaft and axels.

well, i gave everything a good look yesterday and didnt find anything out of the norm. I am going to have my brother look at it, and see what he thinks. Could it be an alignment issue? I will put it up on some jack stands and see what we can find out.

nope. alignment will not cause any noises. Especially seing as though you have already swapped tires. Its tough to find noises but see if u can explain it in more detail some how. If the noise gets louder when u turn one way and quieter when u turn the other way you could be looking at a bad wheel bearing... sway bar links as somebody earlier said.. driveshaft u-joint... bad cv shaft.. etc

since its directly affected by speed, (u didn't state it happend over bumps or turning) then atleast the list of things causing it will be smaller. just pray its not ur tranny, t case, or rear diff.
