Help - driveline noise

I've read all the posts on the various whines and ticking noises but none seem to help. I hear a loud metallic slapping/clicking noise when accelerating above 20 mph. It drives normal but the noise gets louder the faster I go and is really loud when I decelerate. When I step on the brakes, it goes away momentarily. I've checked the transfer case, oil level is good and there is a ticking noise when I turn the tires with the car on stands. On idle, everything's fine. I'm thinking wheel bearings or drive shaft spider assembly. Any suggestions or similar experiences?

Car is a stock 2003 Evo 8.
