clutch makes a sqeaky sound when down shifting.

So I get right to it. Started happening late last night. I notice when I engage my clutch it feels like it has more resistance. Gears takes a little bit more effort to get in, but when I down shift the cluth makes a squeaky sound, it only does this when I'm down shifting. Clutch stills holds power all the way to redline, I'm lightly modded. Anyone have any ideas what this could be?

I don't know. I bought my car used and I think the previous owner forgot the mention it has an upgraded clutch cause I do here a little chattering.

You probably have a Exedy or a quarter master twin disc especially if it chatters... if you have that thats normal for the quarter master twin disc i have it its nothing to worry about but you should try to find out what clutch is in it for sure

Yeah I def don't have the money to take off my tranny to see what kind of clutch it is. I bought the car when it has 13,000 miles on it and now have 29,000 miles on it, and never herd that squeaking sound until last night. Pedal effort does feel pretty light. Don't know if thats one of the characteristics of a twin plate clutch.

OK so I went for a little test drive. Now I can't get it into any gear. So I turn off my car put it in first, turn it on and right away my car jumped forward while the clutch was to the floor. So that tells me the clutch is always engage. What would cause this?

maybe check to see if you have the clutch fluid in the reservoir but you should because the brakes and the clutch share the same one. maybe the adjustment of the pedal? or maybe just maybe i hate to say it but maybe the clutch is going out. check the clutch lines for cracks or leaking fluid! i had an eclipse and the clutch line had cracked right at the slave cylinder but i couldnt see it because it was the section that screwed into the slave cylinder....

Yes I would definately check the fluid and the clutch line. If the clutch line appears to be deterioted it would be ideal to upgrade to a proper braided line...

Well I had someone take a look at it. Popped off that rubber grommet and you can see a yellow pressure plate, so I have an act. Clutch line is good, I have enough fluid. He suggested that one of the springs on the disc is broken. Wont know until I take the tranny off. I'm broke as hell so I'm going to have to do it myself. Wish me luck lol.

at what travel distance does your clutch pedal grab? if its not somewhere near the middle you may want to adjust the clutch rod to the master cylinder, its very easy to do

also, is it howling when you downshift without rev match or? the tob can make a howl noise if not enough grease was applied to fork.

Yeah I guess it sounds like a little howling sound, without rev matching. I never really pay attention at what distance my clutch grabs, but I do have some play in the clutch pedal.

mine howls also if i just normally downshift and ease off the clutch to get it done smoothly. try getting used to rev matching the rpm's when you downshift, it seems the aftermarket clutches like that a lot more.

The thing is I bought my car with 13,000 miles. And now I have 28,000 miles and never herd that sound before. I'm going to have to take the tranny and see whats going on.

ya i dunno. mine might be howling because my rear trans/motor mount was just hanging there. When I did my clutch install I forgot to tighten the nut down on the mount and the long bolt that goes through the bracket/mount vibrated off leaving the tranny just hanging there. Maybe check your mounts to make sure everythings intact. What trans fluid you running?
