ETS super value/gt35r/pt61 questions.

So I'm looking at the ETS kits and want something around the size of a 35r but also with a tight budget in mind. So the first question is, is what's the difference between a 35r and the pt61? I know the 61 uses the same housing but the only thing I found when searching was that the 61 uses different "aerodynamics". What does that mean exactly? Second question is. What's going to be money better spent, dual ball bearings or a equal length manifold? I'm trying to keep costs down but the super value kit with a dbb 61 would be pretty much the same cost as a equal length manifold kit and a journal bearing 61. So what's money better spent on?

all i can say is get the DBB with short style manifold and you will be good. I used to have pte61 non BB turbo and the lag is very bad. short style manifold is very nice kit, i made 762 hp on the super value kit with a diff turbo.

The only 3586 in that kit is a hta3586r and is $600 more then the pt61, add in the extra $400 for the manifold and your talking about a grand more then anything mentioned in the topic.

Here are the prices that you requested. If your looking to build this on a budget I would go with the super value manifold and a PT61. The reason I say go with a PT61 is because it's a precision turbo that's the same size as a 35R. The good thing about Precision over Garrett is the turbo is rebuildable. If something happens to the turbo you can replace the seal, turbine wheel, bearings, etc. If it's a garrett version and something happens you need to buy a whole new center section that costs as much as the turbo did in the first place. Both can turn into an HTA down the road if you like.

We have had reports of faster spool on the Equal Length by a couple hundred RPM. Honestly, if you can justify spending the extra money the Equal Length in my eyes is a better manifold for a couple reasons. The major being surface area, the equal length manifold has great surface area which allows for better heat distribution and less stress on the welds and runners.

DSM25PSI - Made very good power on the super value manifold.

Thanks!

Oh sorry I wasn't talking about the difference in manifolds. I was talking about the pt61 vs gt35.

The PT61 and the GT35 from my experience perform the same. They both use the same size wheel.

Thanks!

Hmmm so theres no difference between the two then? I know it sound nit picky but theres gotta be something. I mean its not going to sway me since whatever it is wont be worth $200 imo but still theres gotta be something different. :?

I'd take the DBB and value manifold over equal length and journal bearing... unless it were a Borg Warner turbo instead of a PTE
