MR Trans 4 gear stiffness

Ok I have an 06 MR. I have the Works TR 340 kit and a ACT MB7-HDSS clutch..

My trans shifts fine except for 3 going into 4th gear. There is no Grind but its super stiff. Coming out of 4th gear its hard to find neutral again. If I go from 3rd to 5th I don't have any issues. I was wondering if this could be a shift rail? Anyone have any insight they can steer me in? I have a donor 6sp trans so was thinking I could pull mine and see what I can do to fix. I am not a trans guru or anything. I am trying to find a 6sp trans manual but seems they are tough to find. If anyone has had this same experience and had it fixed or fixed it themselves I would love to hear some info. Thanks guys.

PS I want to keep the 6sp. I will not be trying to make more than 400hp

Could be a burred hub slider (sounds more consistent with what you describe) but like many things its hard to tell without being there in person.

Its a rebuild situation if thats what you mean. Press gears on and off, change the hub slider, etc.

I am just trying to avoid having to buy that one expensive 6sp part. The 1000 shaft. Not sure if its the input or the output. Don't want to pay 2grand for the rebuild.

Sorry didn't mean to post this again. My noobiness for not searching. Like i said I have a donor trans so if it ends up being a cracked slider would that be just a simple swap and replace with good one?

Yes a new slider is all thats needed. will shift great after that. 6 speed is very tricky to work on compared to 5 spd.

Drop in a 5spd, it's pointless fixing the 6 it will break again.

Does the 5speed transmission drive better? Do you lose the ACD that lets you adjust from gravel to snow etc if converted to 5 spd? And what are some prices for 5spd conversions fully done. THanks

Didnt mean to hijack thread

Its not cheap from what I understand. The prices I have received were way over 2500 not including labor.

you can get the 5spd with very similar gearing to the 6spd. your argument that the 5 spd will ruin your gas mileage is silly, the 6 spd just makes the ratios closer to each other. where as the 5 spd they have to stretch it just a tad to cover the gap.

With the 5 spd you may have to hold 4th for a few extra seconds before going to 5th, because to cover the gap where as on the 6spd you'd have to go 4th then 5th then 6th.

Bottom line the 6th gear isn't the almighty over drive gear, it's basically just like the 5th gear in the 5 spd. There is more to it than that that's just the gist of it.
