hey guys do you know how much whp the stock evo 8 tranny can hold?

Its a wear and tear issue. It can hold power, but eventually if you race on it alot, it will go. Mine is on the way back from shep and it was fairly abused. 22000 hard driven miles. T-case sucks. get it rebuild sooner than later if your abusive and launch alot. cheaper to get it built than to get a new one.

I just ordered Evo VIII transmission from Shep Trans for my Evo IX. It has Evo 9 1st gear installed and the Street Strip build done to it.

There is one option he asked me if I wanted done but didnt recommend it for my power level. I cant remember what it was, maybe shot peen or something.... So basically with the above setup is good for 550 whp. So I assume the stock 8 and 9 transmission can handle safely to around that power level before needing additional upgrades for future reliability.

It also depends on how hard you drive, how often you drive hard, frequency of oil changes and used etc...
