Ways to hold boost at higher rpms

So... I need help guys. I am running 28 psi, about to crank it up more, but it falls hard up top. After 7000 rpm, its down to 21 or lower, and keeps dropping. I saw a video recently of an auto 16g 2g eclipse running no ic, and just meth, and he held full boost to redline.

I currently have 5th place for the stock turbo, and I want to keep moving up on the list. My MPH is pretty much stuck at 122 - 123 mph right now at 28 psi. I run the stock ported exhaust manifold, stock turbo with a ported hot side, buschur piping, buschur race fmic, etc... Is it that my motor is just moving more air than the turbo can, or are there tricks that I can do here.

I am about ready to rip that turbo out and weld up the wastegate

Check out the ECU Controlled Boost thread in the ECU Flash forum. With just a few dollars, you can hold boost longer.

I don't run a stock ECU, nor would I switch away from an MBC. I am more looking for different WGA's, stronger springs, or other tricks to hold more.

Do you still daily drive the car? I have heard of people welding the wastegate shut. That seems a bit extreme though.

There are ways, I just mentioned a few. I am not going to live with it, I am going to find the best way to hold more boost, and then do that. I am trying to track down the owner of the 16g car, so I can ask him what he did.

At a certain point, the turbo can only flow so much, and the motor flows more, but I know I have more in it than now.

I don't daily the car, but I did put about 2k miles on it this year. It would be very extreme, and I don't want to weld it, but if it comes down it to

With the stock turbo and AEM, and not willing to switch to even a EBC, you will need a very high pressure wastegate tightened as much as possible.

What would an EBC gain over a MBC when it comes to the maximum amount of boost you can run?

The boost solenoid on alot of them is able to control boost better than a MBC. It's not that it is better at getting to a max boost, it's better at KEEPING it there.

Has anyone used the Forge WGA with the 19 - 24 psi base pressure spring, and then cranked that up?

Sure, you have more adjustment, but it won't affect the max pressure or taper.

Boost taper is generally accepted as a wastegate problem. I think something like a Forge wastegate would be a much more sensible decision than an EBC.

It also could simply be that his engine is flowing more air than the turbo can provide, but I don't know enough about the VE of the engine or the flow characteristics of the turbo to make that call.
