Hks rs....absolutely need tune?

So, I want to order the hks rs intake, I've researched on here for hours and I beleive that is the one I want to go with.....will I absolutely need a tune? I don't like the sound of messing with the ecu.....will it still run fine without a tune? Disadvantages or advantages? Any advice is appreciated....thanks

I wouldnt want to spend all the money on a tune if it's only for an intake. Are you planning on doing any other mods? Try to install everything at once, then get tuned for it all. Instead of wasting money on tunes every time you put something on.

agreed. if you are going to spend that much on an intake but don't get it tuned you are wasting your time/money

will the car run? yes, it will be fine

if you want a cheaper better solution look at perrin's set up

A stock evo runs rich so you can put it on there and run safely. When you get a few mods done then have it tuned

I have the ARC box right now. The only other way I would do it is the full perrin intake. The pipe + filter. It has shown some very nice gains.

Not a good intake IMO. I hated it when I had it I'm a lot more happy now that I switched to a BR intake.

I had the HKS RS on my 03' Evo along with a full exhaust. I dorve the car untuned for about 5-6 months before I decided to do a boost controller, fuel pump, and a tune. The car ran 100% fine without a tune for the time I drove it.
