It appears you have an MR. Is the shifter stiff at all? Like stirring peanut butter? Does this occur when the car is cold and warm? I just had a similar issue and had a bad syncro and shift rail issues. I just had my 6sp rebuilt.

Twice you've said "certain RPMs". Well, what RPMs?

PS It's probably the synchros.

Well, I'm sure servicing your Transmission will help the smoothness a bit. Sheptrans.com is who I was speaking of. John is a top notch guy.

Depends on how severe the damage is, and what gears need replaced. Going to be a pretty penny, but not astronomical I would think. You can still drive it, so this preventative maintenance is a good thing, good to get it done now before she goes on you...

You shouldn't really have a problem driving it. Just don't beat on it. I drove for 2.5yrs with a 5th gear grind. When I sent my tranny to Shep he said it was pretty much F'd up pretty good and I needed all new gears and synchros. So don't panic. Change the fluid if you want, but you may want to just send it to him and, in all likelihood, never worry about it again. Tranny work isn't cheap, though.
