Help Evo Mexico
Hi i´m from mexico, i have some problems with my evo IX MR, i have this mods:
Down pipe and Catback DC Sports
High Flow Filter AEM
apexi avcr
invidia o2 housing
brian crower cam shafts 272/272
ligthweigt flywheel
ACT clutch 500-550 lbs
Vishnu Flash Reprogrammed ECU
walbro pump
Sorry if my english isnt so good...
Well after installing this mods, with out the flywheel and the clutch, i went to some track days, and some drags on the streets my clutch started to feel weak, so i ordered the act clutch that i listed on top, when instaling it i asked my mechanic to work on the flywheel so we could make it lighter.
We started the car and all felt well. we took it out for a ride and at 4000 rpm the car had a sound, a buzzing sound, we checked the car and it sounded like the gear box so we thought that the flywheel was making the sound so we replaced it with a lightweight flywheel wich we ordered to the US, we install it and the sound is still there, we dont know what it is and we are checking every thing we can...hope you can give us some ideas....
Thanks...

I would hope so... that would be a very expensive mistake to not replace a $50 part while replacing the clutch.. btw did you guys made sure to tighten all the bolts on the clutch and flywheel while installing it?

Yes we´ve replace it, we also replace the gearbox oil, at the dealer they sold me a syntetic oil, is thtat the correct fluid??
Did you replace the throwout bearing with the one that came with the act clutch or an oem one? The act bearing is supposedly noisy. I replaced my with an oem when I put my act clutch in and have had no sounds or issues. Hope you find the problem and good luck.
Also, did you guys use Loctite on the flywheels bolts. It is recommended when installing alum flywheels. And like everyone said, cehck the throw out bearing. Get the oem Mitsu one.
i have the same buzz for over 5 years...mitsu dealership didn't replace throwout bearing when they installed my cusco twin. everything works fine though...just another annoying noise from the evo.

Welcome..and make sure that you research which fluids to use on the transmission, transfer case and rear dif.. Don't let garbage fluids get into your car.
As for the sound could you perhaps describe when it happens. that will help pinpoint. And when you modify evos (any car) they do make strange new squeeks and sounds..its part of the game. Oh and use BLUE locktite NOT red on the flywheel bolts.

The oil the dealer sold me was an 75w90 gl4, in mexico mitsu and dodge dealers are the same thing and share oil and some service parts so, the oil they sold me is mopar, will i need to add a friction additive? or ill better change all the oil for diaqueen??
