LICP Does it actually increase power?

I've been doing some research on this and I havent really found any proven dyno gains from adding a LICP pipe. I know the turbo spools faster but that's about it.

Anybody with a aftermarket LICP notice a difference in power?

ETS did some testing and gains varied by design from 9-12whp.

It removes the restrictive stock LICP, so that's a good thing. Anything that improves airflow and VE is a good thing.

it definately improves power by increasing flow diameter and efficiency. as far as numbers go i am unsure, but ets says about 10-12 whp gain, but i have not seen a dyno proving it.

There has been testing done long long time ago,you dont see much more because it has been proven already, helps with spool, response, and give you a few ponies.

a little more specific by saying " a few ponies"

The only reason I'm asking is because 2-3whp and faster spool would'nt justify $200+ dollars.

Thats basically what you'll get on a stock turbo. Maybe 9-12 on a bigger turbo.

Also you have to remember its not just about one part adding X amount of HP, its about the whole setup working together flawlessly.

Very true. Sometimes the actual net whp gained is the least of the benefits from a certain combination of mods.

When we did that test we actually saw closer to 20 on the extreme swings. We didnt change any part of the tune or boost controller and my car made 397-399whp on the stock pipe, 408-410 on the LP1 style ETS pipe and a well known competitor's lower, and then made 417 on the LP2.

The averages (all dyno pulls were done 2 min apart) were closer to the aforementioned 12-13whp. Boost was set at 29psi and the fuel used was E85. The turbo was the stock turbo.

I actually just installed mine yesterday, Nisei LICP. Took car out for a spin, much faster spool and i did notice a power increase. My intake sounds MUCH louder also. I have just an AMSOIL cone filter and a basic tune in the car, nothing else. Everything else is still stock. Hard to believe, I know.

Got mine used for $40.

The simple answer is yes, it does help since it reduces the stock LICP restrictions.

Cant wait to get my car back up and running so I can install mine. (awaiting my MAX-LOCK diff)
