mixing motor mounts

I've been looking at getting some motor mounts, starting with the front, and then working my way up to a full set until I'm happy. I wanted to just get a blox front originally, but I heard it distorts the rear mount. Does this happen with a front AMS mount as well? Also if I go with a blox front motor mount, and decide it's not enough, and want the rest, should there be any problems mixing them?

I have all the Avid mounts. I wish I would have gotten the AMS front lightweight member with the stiff front mount on it.

I've never heard anything about a front mount distorting a rear mount. Sounds like someone wasn't trying hard enough to install them.

they should be direct replacment. Try the blox mount first it makes a big difference... a little too much vibration for myself though.

Which mounts cause the most vibration? I know there are different ratings for the poly inside them but I would like to find out which ones are the least stiffest.

Yes there is a rating for them. AMS has 70s I think.

Yeah, they are different hardness ratings/durometer ams(70), I can get 80 in some off brand, and most I find seem to be 90.

I love the Blox front mount; along with the 3 other stock mounts I think its about perfect for a daily-driven street car. You can mix/match brands of mounts/bushings if you'd like since they're all designed to directly replace the stock ones and not relocate the engine at all.

The install of the Blox front mount couldn't be easier, much better than getting the stock rubber bushings pressed out of the steel mounts and then the new poly bushings pressed in.

good, if I can mix and match brands I'll go with the blox to start and go from there.

thanks,

+ for blox.. it didn't really change much of anything in terms of comfort, but it sure stopped the motor from bouncing around.

I've got a friend who put the big giant *** red poly insert into the stock mount (not sure who makes it) but it makes his car shake a lot now.

It really depends on how much vibration you are willing to take. BLOX has a 90A durameter and will rattle the **** out of your dash. I switched to a powerflex insert and noticed a huge difference in cabin vibration. I also didn't see a difference between the two as far as shifter feel. Long story short I will never put a BLOX mount back in my car.

I have buschur front and rear mounts and AMS side mounts. AVOID the AMS side engine mount on the top of the tranny. The factory one is eccentric and AMS's is not, this makes it a PITA to install and could also cause the motor to sit a little funny.

I don't quite see what I hard to believe about the rear mount getting worn from putting a stiff front mount in. Energey will find the path of least resitance so when you make the front mount stiff The rear gets worked harder.

The two side mounts don't really do much , the front and rear abord engine braking and accerating.
