Question HKS Racing Suction Intake Problems

I just finished washing my car...yes I know it's 1:24AM and it will rain tomorrow but I like it shiny and clean. Well, while washing it, I placed the hose on top of the hood vent and sprayed water into it for about a minute. Then I popped my hood opened and the whole freakin filter, battery, MAF, everything! was wet. I waited half an hour to start my car and IT WAS STIL WET! I started it and drove it. No problems but the filter is wet. Will I get hydrolock? I plan to modify the stock air box a bit so it will somewhat cover my filter a little but will direct cold air from the stock duct.

Why would you hold the hose diliberately over the hood vent? I personally don't like the water getting in there because I hate cleaning the motor all the time.

TRDHarrier, to have water be a serious issue you would need to dump a WHOLE lot into your intake. It gets pretty much vaporized by the turbo then it has to make it through the i/c piping, i/c core, and upper i/c piping fighting gravity the entire way.

Also why in the world would you do such a thing? That has NO similarity to any real-world water situation other than driving your car into a lake and submerging the front end.

You're not going to get hydrolock from a wet filter.

you would actually have to suck in the water, such as ...... look at your intake as a drinking straw......you would actually have to put it in a glass of coke and suck up before it ever goes into your intake(mouth).............same concept from what i hear??

TRD come on now. Whats up with your story? You are all pissed off becuause your engine is wet well i wonder why that is.... oh yeah it could be becuase you held the hose over your vent for 1min. Webguy is right you would have to suck in a whole lot more water than that.

TRDHarrier, I think you are gettin super paranoid with your car. First, you are worried about snow getting into your engine bay, now water???? If water in your engine bay is stressing you, revert back to teh stock airbox.
