Upgraded Rods, Pistons?
Upgraded Rods, Pistons?
Im considering upgrading my rods and pistons from stock due to my fear of hurting my car overtime from driving hard.
What will be the benefits of these parts? i.e. engine life/ strength, more boost?
I have already upgraded all the resperation (turbo, intake, exhaust, intercooler, etc) and has been tuned to 23psi on 91

The question is, do you really need it? Stock motor will take a lot of abuse at some pretty high power levels. I say leave it stock, unless you are making well over 500whp on a dynojet, or 420whp on a mustang dyno.
Depends on if you're doing a full build or drop-ins. Drop-ins cost in the neighborhood of $1000 to install, and cost anywhere from $900-2500 for the parts. A built motor can cost $3000-10000, plus install, probably in the $1000-range.
Stock motors, that are kept in good shape, and have a good safe tune on them are FREE
Who is your tuner? Might want to talk to them and see what they recommend. How much power are you actually making, and what mods does your car have? If you don't know, then go get tuned before you decide what to do motor-wise

58mm. and i misread, didnt see the "mustang dyno" part.
Im moving to the east coast where there is 93 oct so i plan on tuning way up. I have yet to talk to the recommended tuner out here but figured i should ask around so i have some more knowledge before i go in.
Looks like they wont be needed, and at around 2-3k i dont think it will be worth it tbh
