Evos Mushy Gearbox?

When I test drove an Evo this past weekend I noticed that while it was in neutral at stoplights I couldn't really move the shifter left and right very smoothly. It felt like I was moving it through mud or something. I think the boot might have been caught on something. Is this common on all Evos or can you guys move the shifter left and right in neutral smoothly?

Maybe we test drove the same car!

I test drove the silver one at Glendale Mitsubishi and had the same feeling! It was really the only thing I didn't like about the car.

It's a brand new gearbox. The shifter is very tight moving it left to right. It loosens up eventually. In fact, this is the best gearbox I have ever driven. The shifts are short and precise. I have never missed a gear.

That's really good to hear because it was the only thing I didn't like.
