Upcoming Dyno tune

Hi All,

I have recently done a significant amount of upgrades to my Evo and in February I will be have it dyno tuned to most efficiently utilize my go fast parts. For several years, I relied on basically a 3" catback and a Vishnu reflash. Now I have done the following in the last few months,

AEM short ram, JDM MR bypass valve, AMS 3" Downpipe, AMS Test Pipe, AMS LICP, 3" custom Catback, Walbro 255LPH pump

I also own a Vishnu Xede piggyback EMS. My question is, with the amount of parts I have, and already having a reflash, should I merely have my ECU tuned, or install my Xede and let that be tuned to manage the motor? I know the Xede has kinda fallen out of favor, but if it will do a better job than the stock ECU, I would be willing to still use it. What do you all think? -stuie

I say ditch anything vishnu, xede, anything piggyback. Use the stock ecu. It's more than capable of supporting your mods. Find a tuner whos good with the stock evo ecu in your area.

Is there a reason to ditch the Vishnu? I have a good tuner down in union city. Do you suggest getting rid of all traces Vishnu from my car?

Xede is a paper weight these days with the stock ECU advancements. I say scrap it cause chances are you'll never sell it anyway and tune the stock ECU. You'll be

You can always throw it on EBAY someone may buy it

Sounds good to me! Maybe I can get some sap on Craigslist to grab it lol. I noticed that Vishnu doesnt have a vendor area on evom anymore. Has his products fallen out of favor? He wont be doing my retune, but I had a great experience from the Xflash for years. What is the general consensus about his work?

I'd say all electrical traces, yes. Vishnu was a good line of products and advancements...in 2003. Any performance parts/bolt ons from Vishnu should be fine, but the stock ecu surpasses the capability of piggyback systems nowadays. You can do pretty much anything with it, including speed density, etc.

Thanks for the advice, guys. I really appreciate it! As soon as the LICP from AMS comes in ( apparently it's on back order, something about the silicon parts ) I'll get the tune and post the chart up here. I'm quite excited to see what it does with a proper tune after all the mods I put on, vs a flash from bone stock.

Since my flash from bone stock, I have a short ram, AMS TBE with test pipe, LICP(on it's way), IX MR recirculation valve and a Walbro 255. Do you think hoping for around 300awhp with a custom tune is a too optimistic from an '05? Right now I'm at 20 psi of boost; but I'm sure that will change when Sean gets a hold of it.

I'm sorry to ask so many dumb questions, but I'm not as literate as I would like to be with engines. A little general knowledge is all.

Anyone wanna go skeet shootin' with me and my xede? Hehe, Bring your own shells, I've got the Kegerator of Bud Light....
