ATP 3071 bolt on turbo

http://www.aptuning.net/EVO8_Bolt_on...rt-tbo-024.htm

has anyone ran this turbo with the .82 exhaust housing? Ive ran searches but cant seem to find much info on it

im looking to see if this is somethign comparable to the FP green/Red series turbos? i like the idea of external gate would probably help alot of the boost drop off that the stock turbos seem to have

i had a buschur 20g making 400/400 to the wheels before and dont wanna downgrade id like to be up in the 450-475 range

any comments on this turbo?

It almost seems the 3071 is going to be to small and the 3540r is going to be to laggy. Just wanna see what kind of numbers people have made with these setups on a 2.0

for $1400 you can buy a used green, bbk, or red and for $500 more you can buy them new. Point being, the fp and cbrd turbos have proven themselves and also, with the atp turbo, it looks like you will also have to buy an external wastegate...bringing you to $1700 or $1800, just something to think about.

yea thats what im looking at but what im thinking is the external would help the boost hold better, even the FP turbos are known to peak and drop off alot on boost

mmm, not really. Well, I'm sure that there are examples of some that do drop off, but I'm running the FP black with the 25psi wastegate actuator and I'm only dropping 2psi at redline.

kinda what i was thinking, 3071 to small and 3540 to laggy

here is my setup, stock 2.0, 272's , AEM, 255 walbro and 100cc's. i was making 400/400 on e85 before with my 20g, i want to go back to 93 octane and sit around 450.

im guessing that with stock style manifold im down to this turbo, BBK or FP. probably only turbo that is gonna get me where i want is the red or black.

That's the polite way of saying that the ATP turbo kit is junk. Although they use nice parts the turbine housing is a total performance compromise to work with the stock manifold. That 3071 is a lag monster also. It makes only OK power and is super laggy. I've ridden in a car with that kit, and now a few track guys who tried it and didn't like it.

BBK is what you need yo, wait for them to finalize the new billet wheel on the "Xl" version.

Let us see here:

Stock bottom end
Cosworth M3's
Custom Intake Manifold
Mil.spec 65mm Throttle Body
Nisei UICP
AMS LICP
Nisei Competition FMIC
Spark Tech Ignition
Buschur Test pipe & Bullet Catback
Buschur Intake
Megan Down Pipe
Invidia O2 Housing
Ported Exhaust housing
Buschur double pumper
PTE 1000cc Injectors
Buschur Fuel Rail
FP Black
GM solenoid

I think that's about it for power adders, but on E85 I spike at 29psi and hold 27psi to redline, which is 7500rpm and gives me 458/383 on a mustang dyno. Once I build the block I will be at about 550, or so I hope.

I like the Fp Black alot. The lag is very managable and the top end is great.

yea mustang dyno's read hella low cause 458 isnt that great for e85 and that boost level. Im guessing you are closer to 500awhp i would think
are you on aem or stock ecu? Im looking to do those numbers on pump gas which i see a ton of guys doing with FP red's but just trying to weigh all my options, external gate would be nice to hold boost better but i can deal with only losing 2lbs, i guess im used to my 20g that lost 5-6

458 on the particular dyno that I was tuned on has been shown to be about 15% lower then the other dynojet dynos in the area, which would put me at about 526. Still on the stock ecu.

if you want info on our numbers/turbo look for GST's post,

they just made 402whp on pump 91 on a mustang dyno... we have made 430whp on pump 93... etc...

there are good options from ourselves and FP...
