Perrin or AMS exhaust?
Hello. I am trying to decide between the AMS or the Perrin catback exhausts. I like the quality of them both. On the www.renn-art.com website there is a 2 minute video of the AMS on a black evo, start up acceleration, different cruising rpm's, sounds of it inside and outside the car. I am hooked on the AMS because I like the sound. I just need to know how the Perrin sounds, because I think it looks more stock. Does it sound similiar to the AMS in the video? Any feedback would be appreciated.
thanks
Joe

Thank you for the replies. It seems a few of you love the sound of the AMS like I do. I have seen the AVO, looks stock also, but it costs $950! for a catback! I like the muffler on the Perrin. But if I could only get a sound clip or video. Now that someone mentioned the AVO, I wouldn't mind a sound clip on that either, but the price drove me away.

Oh about the AVO, are you sure it makes 50 whp with exhaust alone or with supporting mods? The turboperformance.net site says max gain is 20 with catback and 40 with turbo back. I am not sure if its wheel horsepower though.
I have AVO turbo-back (catback and downpipe) on my White EVO and I posted the dynoed WHP gained in the Dyno thread. It's very quiet like stock with a low rumble when driving normal. It releases a good sound when WOT. In fact, it's too good that it sounds similar to one of my bosses Modena.
I had RMR turbo-back system prior and like it a lot too. I sold it just because my kids complained of the noise level (but it's a very good sound). Hence, if anyone consider the RMR is quiet then the AVO is much quieter. The only drawback is the price, it costed me $1400 installed, pre and post installation dynoed with some tuning by BrainStorm aka. TurboPerformance.net.
I think one of the caused of the high price is it was imported from Australia.

They just tested the AVO complete exhaust in Import Tuner. You gotta be kidding me! The gains were not good. 20 hp and 21 ft lbs of torque. No weights advertised, the price...$1250 for a turbo back exhaust!! That is freaking highway robbery! That system costs about the same as our complete Stage One package. The AVO intercooler is $995, doesn't increase any airflow to the cooling system like ours does, doesn't come with any new intercooler plumbing like ours does and doesn't loose a bunch of bends and length from the intercooling plumbing like ours does and still costs $245 more. Sounds to me like someone is being greeeeeeedy. NOT impressed with AVO.
Also, this is a typical example of getting ripped off on the 3" advertised exhaust. Look in the pictures, it is just as I said on most of the 3" systems being sold to you guys. There are 2.5" reducers in BOTH the downpipe and the catback. That just killed the flow of your 3" system and as far as I am concerned you may as well have found and bought 2.5" system.
Check out our exhaust for price, sound, material and build quality and weight.

First of all, the original poster was comparing Perrin and AMS, as far as I can remember.
The AMS exhaust is the ONLY exhaust we carry.. and we do this for a reason... it's THAT good!..
I hope the video makes it easier for people to make their exhaust decision.
I have the video in my signature, for those who have not yet seen it.
Thanks.
