dave i know its the first box you tuned and all but how do you feel it compares to the heltech or vipec? for a daily driver smooth part throttle, fast rev rpm's, smooth ''allarond'' even though you dont need the knock control i really like that feature that the aem has it. also will yo be trying this on the mean machine? AKA the Badbish

The password protection is a great addition to it.. What tuner wants to spend his time tuning and years of knowledge only to let the next guy work off his map because the customer thinks someone else can get them 5 more HP..

^^ +1

Always good to read DB's posts. Will wait to see how the rest of the testing goes. Also, how do you compare it with the Haltech and other EMS out there.

Thanks!

This uses a USB interface also correct?

Great input so far.
I was thinking the same thing. I've only had my EMS for a year and now the V2 comes out. Being able to send AEM your old V1 EMS for a discount would be fantastic. Having to spend another $2,000 for an upgrade would suck! Thanks for the video Dave.

The Vipec non-pnp box has knock control built in.

The Vipec pnp box has knock control, but you need an external amp for it, a device called a knockblock from Link is recommended. I use a knockblock on it's own with my car. I find it can be pretty effective. It's a fairly simple system like the AEM's knock control. Neither the AEM or Vipec have a knock control system like the stock ECU's.

Maybe Dave can give us some more information like how knock control works and other features like boost compensation for fueling, etc. Does this new AEM have a target AFR table?

AEM, like any other company, is in business to make money. You don't make money by taking back your products. How many other companies do you see doing this?? None. It's naive to think they would.

lol my thoughts exactly.. everytime a new or improved part comes out there's always people asking "will they take back the old one for a discount!?" People were/are doing this same thing with the FP Black and FP Red turbos lol. The FP Red came out everyone wants to trade in their green for a discounted red, then the black now everyone wants to trade in their red for a discounted black turbo.. here in a few months they'll come out the with the FP Magenta or whatever and it'll be the same **** lol!

^ exactly.

I don't see any upgrade trade-in program for the V1 boxes.

The retail version of the V2 EMS has been out for a few months for the MK4 Supra and no such trade-in discount was ever brought up.

Hope to see some great things from the V2 in your hands David B.

I'd say your "discount" will be selling your AEM V1 for $800 used... sounds like a pretty good discount to me lol.
