EVO VIII 2.3l shortblock from AMS
I have I think's a little over 2 year's and about 10,000 miles on it. I ran around all summer long on race gas pushing 48psi on a daily driver, I killed like 4 turbo's though during that time including the 6262
2.3 is nice but you have to change you gear ratio to really enjoy it.
P.S. I don't like it for the 1/4 drag because of the rev's ,but I love it on the Redline attack and I love it on the street so it's a give and take.

im not a big fan of racing on the streets because im the guy that always get caught, so i just dont do it.
i would like to maybe see a track day at least once.. but for the general amount of time i spend in the evo its tooling around town i do like the occasional burst of speed on a back road but nothing stupid. no drag because id be in the market for a new TC or tranny
i guess im just trying to justify a 4 thousand dollar block right now
these were key points i read from your post... so you dont want to streetrace, maybe the occasional trackday, and every once in a while, a pull on a back road... referring to our comment, it will not be justified by buying a built block. youd be better off on the stock block for what im reading, save your money. whats the point in having all the power and money into it if you never use it?
3rd Gear On 165km/h , Top Speed 305km/h According to Shep Trans ...
Good Luck ...

The only problem with the 4.11 gear is that you need to have over 500awhp just to get that gear going. I love the way it feels with 600awhp but I didn't like it when I was around 520ish did feel like I had enough to spin it
lol on dynoflash video trying to race george and his friends etc. I asked him about that and he said he had some bugs but they are all worked out now. i even saw the video with him and pruven going at it lol. No AL works for them LOL. That was a long time ago stuff before i even had a evo lol. I think his evo stay with AMS for like 1 year if im not mistaken getting built etc. i personally say go with a different companies 2.3 alot cheaper and same quality. People get hung up on names sometimes. but for what your doing with the car to be honest one race every once in a blue moon rarely driving lol waste of 3k+ for you hommie just stay on stocker if your going to really be doing something then i can justify the cost
2 my throttle failed
AMS and Sean ivey can vouch for that!
My car is still making crazy power and it's going on 2 year's with no issues. The only problem I've really had is finding a turbo that can handle my foot!

To the OP I'm also interesting in upgrading my motor to a 2.3L. The shop that does my work has 2 customer with Buschur Racing 2.3 stroke motor and Stage 3 heads both running AEM. One running a FP Black 550+hp and the other running Buschur PTE FS635 Tubular turbo kit 30psi making 650+ both on pump gas. Both cars run extremely strong. I have driven both of them and they are scary. I don't think the blocks were oring'd only the head. If you want more info about the Buschur block send a PM to David Buschur. Maybe they can explain if they do or don't oring the 2.3 and why. I was wondering myself. I do like the fact that you can rev them to 8500

Sounds like you should save your money. Doing a few pulls on back roads and hardly any track time doesn't justify spending that kind of money IMO. Maybe freshen up your block and get some rods bolts for it.
