Question Evo9 mivec problems help me out ???

Ok so my head starts knocking so I change my oil figure oil is worn out and needs a change... Come to find out anti freeze and water don't mix good ... So I started to take my head off but first out with the radiAtor , alot of oil build up in there so then get the head off and come to find out blown head gasket lol.... Then I take a look at the pistons and every single intake valve was tapping Against the pistons...

? Due to basically water as oil could that of made the oil feed to the mivec intake cam gear loose oil pressure and the key / gear inside give way then make the cam skip a tooth in timing then obviously making the valves tap the pistons ...

Or does anyone know any info on the mivec cams gear

Thanks for the help

I think Using the cometic headgasket may have caused your issue. VIII and IX headgaskets are not the same. Ix's are thicker and also have smaller oil feed holes due to the added oil supply line.

As far as the mivec gear goes there isn't much to know.its basically an oil filled clutch and i don't beleive it can travel far enough in either direction to clash.

pretty much everyone says stock for a ix. Cometic lists their headgasket for an viii or ix. Yeah I guess it would work but isn't proper, the gaskets are different tho atleast between oem.
