Clutch ?
I just bought my 06 Evo from a dealership a couple weeks ago, and i noticed that it has a little bit of play in the clutch pedal, After you shift i can actually put my foot under the clutch pedal and lift it up about 2 inches and sometimes it is very hard to put the car in first or reverse sitting still on level ground..almost like the clutch isnt full disengaged..i dont know if its something i should worrie about, this is my first evo so im not sure whats normal....i did bring the car back to the dealer to get a wierd idle taken care of and they didnt notice anything wrong with the pedal.
I'm not sure if the clutches are hydraulic in the 06 Evo's, however look under engine bay for a clutch reservoir and check... If so, you either have a broken line, slave or master! Maybe all three? Hope that helps? Try bleeding them if your not loosing any fluid first, then start inspecting the master and slave!
mine did this... screw on the slave cylinder was loose and was letting in air, it just needed to be bled.... but if there are any fluid on any of the lines or the slave or master cylnder then that is probaly your problem right there..

Look at the engine bay where the clutch reservoir is located, look for any discoloration on the paint and signs of rust, if its been leaking for some time thats a sure fire way to know you're loosing brake fluid (yes brake fluid is used for the hydraulic clutch) around the clutch master. Also check the carpeting above the clutch pedal, sometimes fluid will seep into drivers side floor board due to a bad clutch master cylinder. Check the line from the master to the slave for any loose or broken connections... Then check the slave which is located on the outside of the transmission it looks similar to a brake bleeder... If its wet around the transmission the slave could be bad... If its completely dry try bleeding the system, go to your local harbor freight and buy a "one man brake bleeder" loosen the fitting located on the slave, some fluid will then be released, take the one mad brake bleeder and force new fluid into the system and make sure the reservoir cap has been removed. Hope that helps, I just replaced the slave and master on my car, its a breeze!
P.S. Make sure you're not getting any bubbles through the line once you bleed it, keep an eye on the reservoir... Once the bubbles stop, the bleeding is complete! Never try bleeding it from the top, air wants to travel up not down, you'll be pumping your clutch all day long trying to bleed it.

well i picked it up from the dealer.....they only drove it for 7 miles to check it out, they had no problems then i drove it 20 miles home had the same problems and could smell a faint burning clutch smell, so i called them again drove it back to them on the higway only stopped 2 times and i still smelled like burnt clutch something isnt right so they are goin to drive it longer tomorrow, i have only had the car for 2 weeks so i dont know whats goin on, i know how to drive standard it isnt my first one so its not operator error like they told me, i wanna kick someone in the head at the place.

yea after i brought it back the second time i had to exsplain everything again and show them, and of corse after it sat and everything cooled down it worked fine again luckily the smell was still there, something has to be hanging up bc driving on the highway the whole way there and still getting a burnt smell? that aint right, and i dont ride the clutch either so it wasnt me....im still waiting to hear back from the dealer....they better make it all right bc i have the 30 day warranty from buying the car and the rest of mitsubishi factory warranty
It's possible that you're riding the clutch, or it could be something on the dealerships end. Flywheel could be glazed, pressure plate, you name it... If you're getting a smell somethings not working properly! There's no need to feel ashamed either lol, I burnt the clutch a few times in my X, I came from a RWD manual to the X, it was like night and day! Spring clutch verse hydraulic, RWD vs AWD. Many different things factor in!
