So what exactly am i looking at here :(

So i pulled the evo apart today deeper then i have ever been and when i pulled off the pipe connected to the air filter and turbo, the inside of the turbo was completely covered in oil (see picture). i have seen some threads like thins and people seem to be very upset about it. what exactly does this mean? Turbo seal bad? how do i fix that if thats what it is? Also i pulled off mmy oil catch can and it was full of water, don't know whats up with that?

Any shaft play?

The water in the catch can is condensation.

Agreed. Did you drain the catch can also? I've been running the Saiko Michi can since installing my IX turbo, and not a sign of blow-by. Pull your licp off, and I bet it's caked also!

The valve cover is baffled. This will catch the bigger drops flying around. The rest is going to the turbo unless you have a catch can - a catch can that works. Some oil comes over as mist and some as vapor. Some oil is always going to reach the turbo.
