Update on my poor dead turbo

So, I finaly got my car back from Vancouver with the results of what happened to my turbo and as I found out some other things as well.

Seems that I was running a little lean between 0-11 psi. Over 12 psi to 18 psi, the car was running rich, so that was good. But the lean part was not good and it slowly was doing it's damage over the last 2 years. My manifold cracked in 6 different places including one gapping hole. A part of the manifold seem to also lodge itself into the turbo, bad. Also the turbo housing on the exaust side partly melted, also bad.

Anyway, everything is fixed now. Luckly the engine, pistons and rings didn't suffer any damage from running lean. I just ordered the Apexi S-AFC and will have that installed June 23. When it is installed the car will also be dyno tuned. Can't wait to see some of the figures and stats.

Did you replace the turbo with a stock one or with a nice shiny one? Ditto that question for the manifold.

Congrats on getting the car back...eh...wanna sell it for next to nothing to a guy in NJ who probably can't afford to insure it? When I say next to nothing I'm not talking new tires for a new car, I'm talking boxes of kraft mac 'n cheese.

EDIT: My offer is poor cuz I'm effectively broke, not just to insult you.

All stock for now. The only thing we kept from the old was the up sized turbine from the compressor side of the turbo but in a stock housing. This gives 25% more air flow over the stock turbo. Also, because Mitsubishi designed such a poor manifold for this car, it WILL be cracked again in about 6 months, so in the mean time I'm having a custom manifold being made while I'm using a shiny new stock one. The next manifold should improve exaust flow and turbo spool, so hopefully more hp.

HobieKopek, I'm flattered.........I think. At least your car is new, so you shouldn't have as many worries driving it as me. Over 190,000 fun filled miles now on mine.

EDIT: I wonder if Mitsubishi will accept Kraft Mac'n Cheese as a deposit on an Evo?
