Turbo Back vs DP Back Power?
Is there much of a power gain between a Turbo Back vs a DP back? Lets say mods are cams, injectors, IC & an ECU. I havent found any power comparsisons between the 2 regardless of mods.
I see that several companies offer a turbo back for the stock turbo. I have also read that D. Buschur is very vocal on how unnecessary it is to run a turbo back because the stock piece between the turbo & DP is decent in design.
Any thoughts, experiences ( On Topic ), dyno results

DP is a BIG MOD, very VERY Big, I would never get an exhaust unless it was a turbo back 3.0, DP is HUGE for a turbo.
The stock piece is a Decent design, but is still a 2.5 PRESSBENT unit, get a 3.0 TURBO back mandrell bent unit, I cannot stress that enough.

You seem to have a miss-conception here. I think that what you mean by "downpipe back" is actually from the O2 housing back. If this is what you mean, then a "downpipe back" and "turbo back" are the same damn thing! The part Dave Buschur says is a good factory piece is the O2 housing. The reason he doesn't like the O2 housing eliminator downpipes that many companies are making is because they are a royal pain in the *** to put on and take off.

Really? I doubt if the stock O2 housing weighs more than 5 lbs total so I don't see how you can get a 10 lb weight reduction. I agree that it will improve spool though.

We have seen great improvemnts with our 02 elim downpipe set up. It enabled our car to spool faster and provides about 9whp over the stock restrictive housing. It is also much lighter.
Here is an older style pic, but we have now moved the 02 sensor to lower in the downpipe stream so it is out the wastegate path.

ANyone who has SEEN a Lancer Evo 02 Housing knows that it is no where NEAR restrictive. DSM owners upgrade to them over ported 2G manifolds, they flow NICELY and are not restrictive in the least.
Again get a turbo back exhaust, 3.0 mandrell bend no cat, net 30-40WHP accross the board.

The O2 housing is the piece between the turbo & DP? Next time when I refer to a part, I'll be certain to get a part number for you. Yeah right.
However, the insight to the difficulties for swapping out a clutch at a later time with an "O2 elimiantor housing" IS the type of info I was looking for.
As far as the power gains, after what mods is it really necessary to swap out the O2 housing? besides changing turbos for all you flamers out there!
I see mention to quicker spool up, but how much quicker & where? Part throttle street driving is what I do 95% of the time or is the gain realized under only WOT conditions?
