I don't know if you have tested this yet but can you cruise at 65-75 with the plate still closed? What about inclines on the highway, do you think that this will cause the valve to open?
I am really interested in this and will probably be purchasing one. I am curious to see how the under 4.0L version works. It seems that the one you currently have will be better for keeping the valve shut in all cases except when boosting.

If you can log your car - tactrix cable and evoscan, you can use VDR to see what each change does to your performance....
Wow this is a great find, thank you for being the early adopter and providing feedback! I'm shocked at how affordable this muffler is, I'll likely be ordering one for my personal car tomorrow lol. Perhaps an MAP catback utilizing this muffler is in order.

Two things to keep in mind. There are 2 version of this muffler larger displacement and smaller. And also its possible that it might rattle from the factory. The rattling is because of the smaller half of the throttle body plate is too large and touches the inner tube. You might need to file it slightly.
As of now. I'm running the larger displacement version. Tomorrow will be arriving the smaller displacement version. I'll throw in my feed back.
After driving around I've noticed on my boost gauge that at certain light loads it slightly affects vacuum putting more vacuum. Also maybe its in my head but it seems like it took away some low end torque. But its just possible that its so much quieter that it just seems that way.
For the time being just to give you an idea. If anyone has ran a downpipe with testpipe and stock catback, that is how quiet and slighty similar sounding this setup is.

But if any one in chicagoland area has some dataloging capabilities, your more than welcome to datalog my car. And if you have Buschur catback or any slip fit catback I can let you try it out on your car. It only takes a couple minutes to change and as long as your not slammed to the ground we can do it without jacking the cars up.

I'm gonna drive around with this muffler and notice any differences. But at this moment I would probably break it down to this:
4.0 Smaller version = 2.0T displacement
4.0 Larger version = Stroked motor

Yes that is the only difference.
Update:
Ok did some more driving around and at various speeds.
I decided to use the larger displacement version. Up to 70-75 mph (3k rpms in 5th) it is very very close to stock like sound level. The smaller displacement version actually drones a little on the highways. I say up to 45 mph its live able but after that it starts getting louder. I'm thinking its because of the weaker spring causing it to crack open more with less exhaust pressure thus letting more sound out.
Only one problem it still rattles a little. Mostly from start up as the car's idle is higher and in warm up mode. I'm thinking the clearance around the plate is too tight. But I'm not sure how to file it a little. So far we did bend it ever so slightly but that took care of 90 percent of the rattle.
I'm still rocking the inter cooler pipe tip and coat hanger. I'm trying to look for better options in creating the tip. I really liked how the Cobb muffler tip was but I cant find any like it. Dual wall tips are nice but I dont like them real thick like it is on the the Tanabe Medalion.

Very interesting. I might have to look into something like this. I would love to see some more testing done at first though. BTW, there appears to be a $25 rebate on this muffler. I might just have to pick up myself and have my local muffler shop just make me a catback to fit it.
