Check Engine light after engine swap
Check Engine light after engine swap
Hi guys, I'm having trouble with my car. I recently did an engine swap and now I have the Check Engine light switching on everytime I start the car. The light stays ON the whole time the engine is running and I have no Idea what this is. The engine appears to be idleling and running fine apart from that light. The car is an Evo 3 and the new engine is from an RVR. Could this be related to the ECU? I have not changed the control unit.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.
Does it have an OBDII port? They will check it free at Autozone and other autoparts stores here. I'm not sure what kind of places like that you have around there. I'm not too familiar with the evo 3, but if it has an OBD port, they hook up the scanner/reader to it and tell you what code it's throwing.
Ok, I will try and investigate but this sounds like something I should leave to the pro's. I will let you know what it is if find anything. See the injectors, throttle body and trubo on this new engine are smaller than the previous engine. Do you think this would impact/influence the way the ECU works(fuelling and etc.)?
There is also an old school way of having the check light blink a certain amount of times to get a code (kinda like morse code) but I haven't done that in ages. I bet if you do some research you can find out how to do it if you don't have the diagnostic tool to hook it up to.
