If your transmission is in good shape, here's the info I got from Trevor at Shep (this was 6 months ago):

"We are now offering new upgraded gear sets for 6-speed transmissions that are currently rated for up to 600hp. This upgrade includes a street/strip rebuild and a 3rd, 4th, and 5th gear set. The price is $2675.00 and everything is in stock, ready to be installed, and sent back to you with a turnaround of 10-14 days (with a few days for shipping)."

However, I am sure there will be things found wrong that need to be replaced... and if you want your final drive changed... and (blah blah blah). It was mentioned on here that Eric with Milspec paid "a hair under $4000"

At the time, I could afford the parts, but not the downtime on my car. however he said that they wouldn't sell just the parts... Well now, I am having transmission problems, and I have to send my tranny into them. I am awaiting a return E-mail.

I am considering buying a beater car for the down time of my car rather than renting for a month.
This is the original quote from John:

"Pricing will be $1900 for the 3,4,5 gear sets (6 total gears) and $950 for the 4.09 final drive. Below is an example of what pricing would be if you sent in a working 6 spd. Please note this price can change due to the condition of your core, but we will call with an estimate before performing work.

Synchros, Springs, Forks , keys and seals $335
labor $400
3,4,5 gear set $1,900
4.09 Final drive $950

Total: $3,585

Rem is will add approximately $300

Thanks
John"

I couldn't find the invoice, but I also purchased a core from Shep and there was some minor repairs there. Also had everything REM isofinished, including the final drive. Plus, I sent all the gears out to be WPC treated. Total bill, including shipping, was a hair under $6,000.

Finally have my crank in, so shortblock assembly will begin soon.

Here is a look at all the parts that were REM'd and also WPC treated:

Just under 6....thats getting steep. But I'm sure it will be a nice set up. I preferred the way my six speed shifted compared to my current UR 5speed. Unfortunately a built 6speed wasn't a solid option when I decided to swap it out.

"Unfortunately" I fell in love with the 6 speed. The 5 speed always seemed notchy to me. Also keep in mind, WPC treatment was like 800 bucks or something.

So, it's almost $4,000 if you include REM treatment. Plus, I paid $300 for the Shep core and repairs that came with it. So, closer to 5 with shipping.

People tend to forget shipping and other incidentals when purchasing car parts

I did get $600 for selling my core, though.

How much torque can it hold? Does anyone think it would be able to handle 800+ hp and 600+ torque of an FP Zero driven on the street without launching it?

Read this thread. Towards the end, he gets an email from Albins which states new improved gearsets should be available in 10-12 weeks.

Bringing this thread from the dead.

Whats the latest on these 6spds with the Ablin gear set?
Who's still using them? Hows is/did the experience go?

I'm considering doing this to my transmission as well

Thanks

I'm curious to know, also. FWIW: I was talked out of my beloved 6spd. I was told that it's not just the gear set that's a problem, but the actual design of the box. Sooner or later there are parts that wear and can cause damage to the entire unit. I believe it was something about one of the pins/clips that hold the gear sets on..something like that. There is no fix; it's an inherent flaw. That was enough to finally give up my 6spd. I do miss it, though.
