To go with FP Red or Black

Ok it's time to consider converting my IX turbo to a FP Red or Black. I want to stay with a stock framed turbo cause I just ported my manifolds and head. I also have a built block with Manley H-Beam rods and Wiseco .20 over pistons with Swaintech coating so holding the power shouldn't be a problem. The car is a stock appearing street car and I just want me power out of it. So FP Red and Black owners please speak up and help me make up my mind. Thanks for the help and input!

I bought a Red and the Black came out like couple days later. But, I'm on stock motor so, I made the right choice... for now. If you got the Motor go Black and you'll never go back. FP Black over FTW

Do either an HTA Green, or the FP Black. Either would be great on E-85. It hinges on what exactly you want to do with your car. If you are considering the FP Red, then might as well get the Black since there is only a 200 RPM difference in spool between the two but an easy 50-60 WHP difference.

EDIT: Oh yeah, either way you are going to need a double-pumper and bigger nozzles...I think.

I assume you have a2.0 still??If I was you to take full advantage of your build go with a t3 setup either 6262 or 3586 there's a couple used on the for sale forms on this site at a good deal there 3 to choose from..Trust me you will love the big turbo your gonna have to supply your passengers with neck braces.

I just got my EVO 8 back this past Saturday, did a whole bunch of mods including replacing my red with the black.
my previous red tune at 25-26psi was 390whp, now with the black at the same psi im at 450whp on 93 pump, when i flip two switches and press two buttons im at 547whp on meth and 93 pump. the fun never stops!!
next is my e85 tune, should be at maybe 650whp.

on the highway with the black you feel like you have the power of GOD

just go with the black and dont look back

GL whatever you do

to be honest with the OP i would say go black as well BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT what people did not ask is what he cares about fast spool or top end? what kind of racing is being done? That will determine his turbo choice. dont get a black if all he is doing is auto X type deal. So even though alot of people discrete the fp red now it has its place and on the right setup with mods is very very effective. But i would say hta green or fp black

I appreciate all the input and i'm leaning towards a FP Black. I guess I just need to call FP and see what they charge to convert my IX turbo to a Black and start counting my pennies.

I went from Red to Black. They seem fairly similar in spool to me. Neither would be suitable for autocross unless you have a stroker.
