After Cam install.. some ticking noise.

Well i just installed gsc s2 cams and valve springs last night. After putting everything together and starting it up (started up just fine) I took it for a short drive to make sure everything was okay. I started to noticed that there was a ticking noise coming from the engine bay while just cruising. The car runs fine but does have a rough idle. Also when i took a sharp right turn the car made a louder tapping noise that came from the engine.

I know i really need a tune to fix the idle and get the full potential out of the cams but what I want to know is what is the tapping and is it normal until you get a tune? (I double/triple checked to make sure the timing was right.)

As the mentioned above, bleed the lifters and do be sure to tune asap. I personally wouldn't be cruising around with S2's and no tune.

"Also when i took a sharp right turn the car made a louder tapping noise that came from the engine." If that was mine Id probably take the valve cover off and inspect for loose metal parts before even thinking of starting it up again.

Get it checked out. Could be something loose inside. Or u aren't used to the aggressive sound from the cams

The lifters actually did not need to be bled. I had a significant oil leak and the oil I was running on was getting to the point where it needed changed. I did a quick oil change after fixing the oil leak and now it has no more tick.

Will it harm the engine in long run when the lifters is giving bad ticking sound?
