Yes, this just replacing the cover on the stock differential, because the Cusco is its own unit you can’t use this mod. But I would recommend the Oil Sight Cover to get more oil in your diff to keep the bearings happy.

I just talk to Jon last night and he said the Cusco Diff has the same problem. They are spinning the bearing on the diff due to the lack of wall thickness. He is in the process of making Some for the Cusco and will be selling them for 265.

interesting.. i wonder if it's a difficult install.. have to open the diff up? i'm pretty sure daddio etc ran the cusco for a few seasons with no problems of this nature.. same for many people running the tre rear diff

i agree. i'm also saying the diffs are working and working right and properly without this mod. how many tre rear diffs have exploded in the past years? and how many of them were from drag racing rather than road racing or autocross? i think i might have heard of one, which is perhaps why this mod came up from tre.

i'm not saying it's bad or wrong or attacking this mod, i'm just wondering out loud how necessary this part is and for who/what kind of torque/driving etc

He's got pictures of a stock bearing setup... that the OEM uses as well as your Cusco diff. regardless of who makes the ramps and clutch plates, this bearing is a certain weakness. That picture very well probably isn't from after a TRE rebuilt diff, but most likely from several of the stock diff's that he's seen and serviced.

I know mine took some beating.

Stop By TRE this week

So I stop by TRE this week and he showed me a newer version of the HD Side Cover upgrade that Im getting. All I have to say is…… WOW!!!

*Its as light as the stock cover
*Latest aero extended tip design for tumbling the oil for better cooling
*Large taper roller bearing for failure free operation and better axial and radial thrust loads
*Larger A/R ratio housing with surge ports - better oiling distribution inside
*He said this thing is bullet proof and not to mention sexy as hell

Nice! I've been looking into having the rear diff done on my car and TRE is where it's going after reading up on everything.

Larger A/R ratio housing with surge ports
