Fluidampr part number for Evo 8/9 application?

I see two different part #s for the Evo 8/9, 610701 and 610702. What's the difference, if any, and if there is a difference, is one better than the other?
My specific application is a 4G63-based 2.3L stroker.

If the information at these two sites is accurate, it might just be that the 701 has a black zinc coating, while the 702 is anodized gray:

Thanks in advance!

Doesn't it say that the other is for evo 8/9 and the other one is for dsm.

I'm sorry, I don't have an official answer. However, I just ordered my Fluidampr from AWDMotorsports for my Evo 8, 2.3 stroker, and it is part #610701.

From the website, they list #610701 as Evo specific. The other dampner, #630701, is listed as 4G63T / DSM such as a 1990-1994 Eclipse or Talon. Also, it would appear that they have a diameter difference. 6 1/8" for the Evo dampner, which is what my Fluidampr measures, and 6 3/8" for the DSM dampner.

Thanks, but I'm not asking about the #610701 vs. the #630701. I'm inquiring about Fluidampr parts #610701 and #610702:

Two links to places that supposedly sell the 610702:

http://www.full-race.com/catalog/pro...5og4dio17ur173

http://www.buyimportperformance.com/...9_p/610702.htm

Maybe it's an old/discontinued part # for the same thing? Somebody tried to organized a group buy for the 610702 back in 2007 on evom:

Ah, okay. Yes, I recall a few threads a while back from vendors encouraging people to order the last batch of aluminum Fluidamprs. The description from full-race.com describing #610702 says it's aluminum and only weighs 5.75lbs. I can tell you the one I have is definitely more than 5 lbs. in weight. I'm pretty sure Fluidampr discontinued the aluminum units for whatever reason. Either full-race has not updated their website, or they actual have some of the aluminum units left.

There's your answer:

#610701 - Steel
#610702 - Aluminum

Okay, that's probably correct. But, being a proponent of benefit of lightweight parts, esp. where it's rotational mass, I'd rather have a lightweight crank pulley damper... if it works the same as the steel version.

I'll call Fluidampr on Monday and see if I can verify this.

You don't happen to have a digital shipping scale, do you? Human sensory perception is notoriously inaccurate for estimating weight...

Digital scales are available for use (for free) at U.S. post offices with self-service shipping stations, and every FedEx/Kinko's. Just FYI.

I don't have a shipping scale, but I do have a fairly accurate bathroom scale. I realize shipping scales are much more accurate. It shows the Fluidampr weighing in at 6.8lbs, and while holding it, I weigh exactly 7.0 lbs. heavier. I do recall the thread about the aluminum units being discontinued discussing a 2.0 pound difference. So, I think it's about right.

EDIT: Here's the thread I recalled reading the 2 pound difference in... https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...e-you-can.html

Thanks for the info! Called Fluidampr today; confirmed that the 610702 version is/was aluminum, and it's been discontinued for some time now.

I think I've found a used 610702 pulley though; if so I'll weigh it when I get my paws on it and post an accurate weight on it.

The used 610702 Fluidampr I got weighs 4.85 lb.

Also, in case anyone wants to get one of the last aluminum 610702 pulleys left, I found a company who actually still a couple of them available... Marco told me $289 plus shipping:
